mnst-08752 I have always thought this is one of the most amazing war films going, even if I had to study it in school. But it was something that I enjoyed watching it and enjoyed studying it as well. Amazing adaptation of the book as well, in my opinion it's on of the best.

costeroelvis This is a tour de force feature film which netted Spielberg his 2nd best director award. It is thoroughly deserved. The opening battle sequence alone is worth the price of the ticket and the entire film only compliments it. This is a juxtaposition of emotions and prowess unlike very few films you'd have seen. All the actors are amazing but the direction and cinematography take the cake. Saving Private Ryan is a film that will be remembered for ages to come and if you haven't then please see it at any given opportunity.

bjdr-18636 Unfortunately a little too many historic inaccuracies to swallow and the all too tiresome portrayal of the Germans as idiotic and ineffective. Waffen SS and Wehrmacht soldiers almost never wore skinhead haircut. Tank attacks were not performed as portrayed in the bridge scene. Weaponry of late Waffen SS units were almost certainly different from those portrayed in the movie. Wehrmacht and Warren SS units rarely mixed. Most likely the airborne soldiers should have encountered Hitler Jugend units (aged 17-21) that were exceptionally disciplined albeit very willing to sacrifice their lives.Sad that Hollywood always has to obfuscate reality. Fake history!
