Reviews

Kattiera Nana I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
BeSummers Funny, strange, confrontational and subversive, this is one of the most interesting experiences you'll have at the cinema this year.
Suman Roberson It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.
Jenna Walter The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
Leofwine_draca THE BREAK-IN is an indie riff on PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, as are so many, and featuring the same kind of atmosphere of tension and disquiet. This time around the story is non-supernatural and concerns a young expecting couple who are disturbed by increasing reports of burglaries in their neighbourhood. Their story is captured via found footage in a low budget but fairly realistic way. The problem is that the events that do take place are few and far between and they're also quite familiar despite attempts at atmosphere building. The twist ending is the only thing of note in this one.
bks-508-290401 I'm a huge fan of found footage, it jangles my nerves because it gives a feeling of realism, and there's no peripheral vision so you don't know what will be there when you turn around. I've seen quite a few, some good, some not so good. This one is at the bottom of the pile for me. I totally get character development, and I enjoy it, but almost this entire film consists of mundane conversations between the lead male with the droning, monotonous voice and his sickly sweet fiancé with her exaggerated facial expressions and annoying vocal fry. I'm sorry, but the film is almost over, nothing has really happened so far, and I really don't care what you'll be calling your baby, or what dance moves you used to be able to do. I'd say there's about 10 minutes of tension in this film altogether, if that. I'd give it no stars if I could. I will say that I didn't see that ending coming, which lasted all of five minutes and was quite a surprise. But that's all.
Jack Miles So me and the wife love found footage films. Everything from Paranormal (which this ones is filmed a lot like) to Blair Witch and even some indies that most people have never heard of. We literally will watch anything on Netflix and Amazon, especially horror films. Most of the time, i have to say we are a little disappointed, even though we still enjoy all indie films and see the creativity or lack there of in some of these low budget ones. This one caught our eye from the cool poster we saw on Amazon. Never heard of it or the actors involved but gave it a chance. And it was quite the little thriller. Definitely a gem in the group of indies we have seen in the past year. Don't want to give too much away, but it is essentially a reality TV show that takes place over 4 nights and some very cool horror elements. Give this one a shot cuz it was a breath of fresh air compared to the same ol same ol out there that we have been watching. Very cool film!!!!
eritz OK, So I almost didn't give this one a chance because of a handful of negative reviews I saw on Amazon. I have no clue what movie these people were watching because I loved this one!The acting was great and the plot was simple but effective. I don't want to give anything away, but there are some cool twists and turn throughout the film. The first half is slow, but still keeps u engaged. The second half is where all the action happens and it is well worth the wait. Its only a 72 minute film and by the time it was over, I was wanting more. I especially liked the character named Lawrence! Short but awesome cameo! I would absolutely recommend this film to anyone who likes indie horror films. This ultra low budget indie in my opinion is better than most of the big budget ones I've seen in the past 5 years.
