SpuffyWeb Sadly Over-hyped
Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Tobias Burrows It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
Candida It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
Maddie1003 Cinephile Kassie Larson(Jennifer Aniston)is a 40 year old successful woman who has been unlucky in love, decides to get pregnant through artificial insemination.Although her best friend Wally Mars(Jason Bateman) vehemently denies her choice, whom she confides everything she goes ahead with it anyway. Roland(Patrick Wilson) decides to be the donor for some money. Seven years later, Wally meets Kassie with her son Sebastian, who resembles surprisingly like him. This film has a refreshing take on romance. Hence the situations, and the decisions are not childlike but mature. I liked Wally's sharp, practical and sarcastic view on things. What was more likable was the warm and tender relationship between Sebastian and Wally. He was the highlight of the entire film. His sharp mind provided some witty gags. And what would life be without friends, who advise and guide our choices every time? Here, they play an important role. All in all, an unexpectedly satisfying mature romantic comedy.
Ole Sandbaek Joergensen After reading the synopsis and a few reviews of this one, I had expected it to be funnier, it still has some funny scenes, but mostly it's serious with a twist of dry/subtle humor. I must say I did like it very much nevertheless, something about Batemans character just makes it good and worth watching, he is very easy going, kind of boring, but it just works for him. Jennifer delivers a good performance that keeps it on the not so down low side, her character has some issues, but is not flaunting them, and some very protective side both for her self and her son. Speaking of the son, it's really great work by this kid, he really is a look-a-like of his "dad" and really perform and acts the character very well. The two bi-characters played by lewis and Goldblum have their special moments as well, but they are bi-characters and keeps to the background, but steps up to the plate from time to time. It's hard to explain what makes this movie for me, but I just liked it, it was a quiet time in front of the TV, and a good time with this hour and 40 minutes flick.
tsh85 I was not expecting to like this show very much, but it literally blew me away. This child actor who plays Sebastian is phenomenal, and absolutely adorable. At his age, his acting skills just blew me away. Jennifer Aniston plays her usual quirky self, but she was really great, and very classy. Jason Bateman was fantastic, and I loved everything about his character. This movie made me laugh and cry. The bond between Bateman and Sebastian was beautiful. Every actor in this movie was great, including Juliette Lewis and Jeff Goldblum, who co-star. Trust me, you will enjoy this movie, even if you don't normally watch these types of movies.
katelynv11597 When first seeing this on my Netflix feed, I never thought id like it as much as i did. It is a typical comedy chick flick, but very enjoyable. While you watch, you can guess what is going to happen, but it you're still on the edge of your seat. It never fails to make you laugh, and the insemination party defiantly can brighten anyone's night. The casting was perfect for every part. Jennifer is a perfect fit for Kassie, the hardworking girl that is ready to be a mother, Jason Bateman does a great job at being Wally, dorky and quirky, and finally, Thomas Robinson is adorable and makes the movie tug on you're heart strings. I would defiantly recommend this movie to anyone who needs something to do on a Saturday night.
