daworldismine the tuxedo is an action comedy starring jackie chan yes, but anybody expecting an action packed stunt fest like his other movies are going to be dissopionted, as there isn't much action at all, and what few stunts there are, are all wire work and cgi. and while there are a couple of laughs here and there, and a couple of fight scenes, that show chan in a good light, but you have got to suffer through the cgi infested action scenes, and poor gags. now don't get me wrong jackie chan is his usaul charming self, and still raises a few giggles, but hes really restricted here. the kids might like it though, and it is worth a watch one time, but jackie chan has been in much better, even in his other American movies,
TheLittleSongbird I personally think The Medallion is worse than the Tuxedo, but the thing is The Tuxedo I was left cold by. Jackie Chan is always watchable, and he is one of the best things of this mediocre effort having a lot of charisma and doing what he can do. Jason Issacs also gives a strong performance, the first twenty minutes are actually great, the Macguffin is fun and the film does look good and doesn't look as though it was edited on a bacon slicer.However, despite these good things, The Tuxedo does fall downhill quickly. The storytelling on the whole is incredibly clunky complete with cardboard cut-outs for characters, poor dialogue, stunts that suffer from a lack of energy and unnecessary(not to mention sloppy) CGI effects that miss the point of everything Chan stands for. The film is badly paced, with a lot of rushed and slow spots that dispand from any more believability the film could have had, and the direction is bland. While Chan and Issacs are good, Jennifer Love-Hewitt is terrible. She in general is not a great actress but she is one with warmth and endearment, but with such a poorly written and undercooked role she tries way too hard.Overall, not Chan's worst, but rather weak. 4/10 Bethany Cox
Angelus2 Jackie Chan is a cab driver who meets a spy, who gets hurt and now Jackie must replace him and take on the role of the spy by wearing his tuxedo. A tuxedo that gives him superpowers....The concept is cheesy and does not work, its not something you would associate with Jackie Chan although the fight scenes are still amazing the arrival of Jennifer Love Hewitt wrecks the film, she isn't funny and doesn't suit Jackie Chan. I understand that Jackie wanted to try something different but this just doesn't work....I found the film to be predictable especially with 'James Brown' although the singing scene was very funny and kept me entertained...Ovcerall not the greatest Jackie Chan movie.
simple_don I've read numerous negative comments about this movie and its several actors on this blog, and I have to wonder what is going on the lives of these unhappy mental midgets that they did not find this movie thoroughly enjoyable. It is one of Chan's best. Jennifer Hewitt is "DAZZLING" (as are the other gorgeous ladies) on top of hysterical. Jason Isaacs is considerably smooth and not in near enough of the movie. It makes me think that the negative comments were written by people working for the opposition. I AM amazed at the decision to cut the majority of the deleted scenes (I won't spoil it by telling you which). Get the DVD and enjoy the whole event over and over. For my tastes, it will be a default movie... one I will look forward to watching frequently.
