Kattiera Nana I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Hottoceame The Age of Commercialism
Freeman This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Anders Twetman I don't think this film deserves the low score it has, there are many things out there that are far worse. Perhaps I just had very low expectations going in, but still I do not consider Track of the Moon Beast to be a truly bad film. For starters, it has a plot (at all) that, though a bit simplistic drives the movie forward, all be it at a rather slow pace. There is a hint of background story and attempts are made at subtlety and foreshadowing. There are characters that are not completely despicable, and they have relationships with each other, that actually matter, they are flat as cardboard however. The acting is sub par, but not entirely horrible, likewise, special effects are bad, but still OK considering the budget. The movie chiefly suffers from being slow with a lack of action scenes, and rather dull. And I do realize that the positives I've listed are mainly a lack of negatives, I guess I spent too much time watching bad films but from my point of view, this is not horrendous. It is in fact, overwhelmingly meh.
oscar-35 *Spoiler/plot- Track of the Moon Beast, 1976. A group of young people from the local university get interested and involved in star gazing during a falling star shower. One person sees and gets hit by a moon fragment(long story) and then the same person begins to have nightly black-outs. And many gruesome murders begin to happen in his community unexpectedly. The police and investigators go to work solving the crime that leads back to him.*Special Stars- Chase Cordell, Leigh Drake, Gregorio Sala.*Theme- Never go out to watch for falling stars, you might get a bad surprise. *Trivia/location/goofs- Film was a straight to TV release. Mystery Science Theater 3000 did a 'mash-up' of this film('99). It has terribly bad sound and camera framing. Great poster cover art for this film. This film was a simple good plot, but placed with some terrible technical problems to produce this unique film, such a sad waste.*Emotion- An interested enough and well acted plot premise, but the terrible technical problems of bad sound, camera framing and special effects interferes here. The casting and locations are interesting and entice the viewer to participate in the mysterious plot. This production had financial problems once the production was over; in post production and to exhibit this film. Sadly by that time the damage to this film was already accomplished and terminal to make this a film that could not be enjoyed on many levels to the viewing public. Nice try, but the makers dropped the ball here, a real shame.
drystyx This is a good drive in style monster flick, made before complete idiots ruined monster movies with their self righteous preaching of hate towards audiences. This one involves a meteorite that changes a young man into a small (about 7 foot tall) T Rex.It's very campy, but in a good way. There are 4 central characters; the doomed subject, his girlfriend with gorgeous legs, and two authority figures of cop and forensic expert. Later, some doctors also play a small role. The lines aren't designed for too much seriousness, and the script is what we writers call "expository", meaning the lines try to explain the plot instead of letting characters speak fluently to show the plot. The actors do pretty well with the expository lines. To their credit, they don't try to rewrite the script. In this case, the actors probably should have dared, but it is a bad policy. The movie, which is probably never shown outside of MST3K commentary, starts very slow, but then flows fairly well. It is designed for old time drive in fare, with the early portion for runs to the concession stand. It works great in that capacity.Usually, I find MST3K very annoying. They aren't very imaginative most of the time, and were inferior to better satirists of the era, but for flicks like this they are okay, serving as the concession stand for the early part of the film. Films like this, which aren't so classic that MST ruins them, or so poor that MST doesn't allow you to critique the poorness, probably are what MST3K type satires work best with. It is not classic, nor is it depressing. It is a fun flick for popcorn and soda.
Seb Track of the Moon Beast has a simple story to tell you, a meteor falls turning a man into a lizard beast when the moon is full. At the start some jokers make a howling noise in the hills to mildly surprise their friends. When they emerge after this merry jape they gobble up about ten minutes of screen time explaining the whys and wherefores of this little gag. But it doesn't end there, the entire film is littered with explanations of things you neither care about nor really need to know. Oh remember when you did this? What about the time this happened? Show it, or shut up about it! Most of it isn't relevant anyway. The acting in this one is just horrible and the script is full of moments where they all laugh and share a warm moment that excludes the audience because what they are laughing about isn't funny and what's going on is really drab and boring. The monster is a joke, day turns to night and night to day randomly and the whole thing alternately looks like it was filmed about six inches from the sun or inside a black hole depending on whether or not they remembered to turn the lighting on before shooting a scene. This is one boring pointless movie, so little happens that within fifteen minutes of it ending you'll be hard pressed to remember one significant scene. Even bad movie fans will struggle to find anything entertaining with this one.
