Gurlyndrobb While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
BelSports This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Allison Davies The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Philippa All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Grandpre I rewatch it and am astounded every time. Just a fantastic show.
johnelkaz Instead of Deadwood it should have been called Cock-sucker. This is the only criticism of a very realistic show that overdoes the cock-sucker word to a point where it becomes Dead Wood while grating your nerves.
regular8 Mistaking Olyphant for anything except a watered homage to early Clint Eastwood misses the point of his performance. The talk, the eyes, the walk, the delivery sweetly remind of us how well the classic Clint did his thing before emasculation and how difficult it now is to replicate. The Western saga belongs to powerful males and conniving ladies if we believe the script of Deadwood. The high quality of the writing as to fundamental human foibles, trials, and triumphs is the gem here. If you can forget that it's not Clint on the screen and don't have a quivering sensitivity to fun cuss words, it's one great show.
betty-miller It's a good historic story and the sets are true to life but the swearing is so wrong. I understand the reason to use up-to-date vocabulary so that the younger generation can relate but there are less offensive "modern words" that could be substituted for the overly used "F" word. It seems as if almost every second word is profanity and, even though swearing occurred "back then", there would not have been a steady stream of the same vulgarity from each and every man. I am by no means a puritan but cringe as each cuss is uttered feeling that the script has strayed far from the intended portrayal. The "Comments" state that the language improves as the episodes proceed so I will tenaciously continue watching to see if this transpires.
