IF ITS A NEGATIVE REVIEW THEN THEY MIGHT HAVE A GRUDGE AGAINST THAT PRODUCTION. NOW I HAVE REVIEWED OVER 200 Christmas MOVIES. I HAVE NO AGENDA. I AM FARE ABOUT THESE FILMS.This film is a winner. This gets played during Christmas time on the Hallmark Channel because it takes place during Christmas however the setting might worked better if it took place on Valentines Day. Regardless the film is a HUGEbJOY. Its very romantic with a nice pace. On top of that it has a story that pulls on your heartstrings with a message of "Love May Not Conquer All" but when you are in love life means more.In this film Jack (Andrew McCarthy) is an executive in a financial brokerage firm trying to impress the firm's president, Drew Clayton (Chris Gillett), in hopes of a promotion. However, Jack is dating the fabulously rich and elegant Demi Clayton (Stephanie Mills), who happens to be Drew's daughter. Although Demi's mother Clarisse (Jane Moffat) doesn't necessarily approve of Jack and would prefer her daughter to date a man within their social circle, Jack still plans on proposing. Trying to create the perfect proposal, Jack signs up for dance lessons in preparation for his proposal to Demi at her father's lavish annual Christmas Dance. But when sparks start to fly between Jack and his dance instructor, Christine (Michelle Nolden), Jack will have to make some important decisions before it is too late."Come Dance With Me" again is not a typical Christmas movie. Its not about "Orphans" or "Santa". Its about a man deciding on what he truly wants in life. I will watch it again. I am still smiling thinking about the film!
adoptshelterpetstoday The previews for this movie were exquisite! I could hardly wait to see...what I though was going to be...a wonderfully enchanted, romantic Christmas movie with talented players! But not so...not at all...I greatly enjoyed Andrew McCarthy with his talent and humor in both "Bernie" movies...but after seeing his portrayal in this movie, his talent must have died since then...OR obviously this was not the right part for him. And the scenes with his pretended English accent and expressions were so awkward. All I can say "good" about this movie is that it's good for those who have short memories since:the majority of scenes were the dance studio scenes,with the same song, with very similar lengths and outcomes......played over and over ad nauseum.If you don't have a short memory, watching it more than once only increases the dull effect...boredom.
asinyne I enjoyed this movie very much and so did my wife. Its very romantic. The leading lady is very beautiful and moved gracefully. Perhaps the plot is nothing new but it worked for me. I also thought the lighting was very well done, especially in the dance studio scenes which certainly set the tone for the film. Andrew McCarthy is a fine actor and the movie suited his talents. There were times when things developed in a clumsy fashion but for the most part it sailed along in fine style. I'm not totally sure the chemistry between the two leads was dead on but the chemistry between me and Christine was awesome! This is a classy movie with a good cast and I give it a solid edge over most similar holiday fare...try it out!
MysteryGirl Andrew McCarthy has steadily been an actor whose movies take you into the moment, where you magically lose yourself, and once the credits roll, you're still there. "Come Dance With Me" doesn't grab you immediately, but slowly pulls you in. Although there are a few scenes that just don't mesh, McCarthy pulls it off. His brooding, ruggedly handsome demeanor is seductive, and it undoubtedly crosses the movie to viewer barrier.Casting for this movie was mostly on target, except for the bosses daughter. There's absolutely no chemistry in what seems to be a composite airhead overacted and stereotypical blonde type. As a viewer/audience, you just wish she'd go away, but at the same type it gives you the chance for a few giggles at her expense. Since the movie title does contain "Dancing" you're in for a pleasant surprise. McCarthy pulls off a beautiful waltz, and for me - he can fill my dance card for the entire event. Although I rated this movie an 8, it's certainly not in the same caliber of Rogers and Astaire, but with more than a few wonderful scenes, where the magic of the movies comes alive .... we can blissfully dance the night away.
