Lightdeossk Captivating movie !
ChanFamous I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.
Matho The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
Bob This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
oscar-35 *Spoiler/plot- 1999, Follows a very young inexperienced USC film student through his paces struggling to make his thesis film project. We see his influences in a satirical way that brings him to his final university script and then his next commercial film offering about a duck.*Special Stars- Martin Hayes. Dir: Joe Nussbaum *Theme- USC film school will mold you into a possible film mogul, if you try hard enough.*Based on- Shakespeare in Love format and Lucasfilm Limited Star Wars imaginary world.*Trivia/location/goofs- Expectly casting 'eye' with it's unknown actors in their character roles.*Emotion- Rather impressive student fan film prequel short to the George Lucas USC myths. Enjoyable, watch able, well produced, and worth your time that cleverly follows the film format of the film of that day, Shakespeare in Love.
FlorisV Not only hilarious but also heart touching. I guess you have to love Star Wars to truly appreciate this one with all the references but even without all that knowledge it is definitely a funny film with excellent acting and music. It's a short film about inspiration with some great quotes. "Search not, inspiration will you not find. It will find you." Oh and it's a hundred times better than that overrated turd, Shakespeare in love, even if it's only 10 minutes long! Here's my faves: "My mom's coming over so could you get rid of the...pharmacy?" "It's not what you would call technically DONE, done yet.""And George, the beard...not working for you! Hehehehehe"
mentalmummy This film is short but absolutely flawless as it tells the story of how George Lucas may have got his inspiration for Star Wars. This gentle comedy is just pure fun, from Georges arch nemesis through to the Yoda like encounter and of course the beauty he encounters along the way.The ending is funny and I liked the scene with Georges friend right at the end when he gets a new pet, all in all a fun film which had me laughing out loud. The actor playing Lucas is very good in the role, the script is well written and the music well suited.Overall highly recommended!
lcrews I attended USC film school and had CNTV 241 (the entry-level film production class) with Joe Nussbaum, the director and co-writer of this short film. I used to borrow his tripods and lights all the time...Even though we were shooting on Super 8 at the time (now they shoot iMovies in CNTV 241), Joe was at the head of our class at crafting funny, memorable narratives in little short films. When George Lucas in Love became a surprise hit a few years ago, I wasn't surprised at all. For me, it was a continuation of the incredible filmmaking talent Nussbaum displayed at USC a few years back.I remember reading Nussbaum got a feature film deal shortly after this short was made, but it seems that never came to pass. Que sera sera, but still keep your eyes out for him, as his talent is too strong to lay dormant forever. Even if you never get the chance to see his Super 8 comedy masterpiece The Whiz, like I did a couple of times back in 1994, you can watch and enjoy this very sharp and funny short.
