Vioundon One hour and a half of nothing
SunnyHello Nice effects though.
Tobias Burrows It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
Marva It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
sammie-75089 A sad, sloppy movie filled with F bombs, drunks, arrogant hotheads. loud-mouthed low-life's and unlikeable characters...just didn't generate the sympathy factor. I went away from this movie vowing never to go to Boston for any reason
851222 Greetings from Lithuania."Stronger" (2017) has a great performances, all around. It has a solid script, based on a true events story and solid directing. For running time 1 h 50 min this movie barely has dragged and was involving. While the story here itself is only loosely based on real life, its kinda predictable here and there and you can see some events (in a second part of the movie) coming from mile ahead, yet all was done very solidly.Overall, "Stronger" is an inspiring and simply a good movie all around. Not to be missed one.
Fallen Eye So, is it just me or did Wahlbergs's 2016 Patriot's Day tell a slightly different story about what happened, compared to Stronger? Where is the line that separates a biography from fiction?Though Stronger didn't depict it very well, it seems to me that Jeff is a hero because of him identifying one of the brothers, yet in Patriot's Day, it was an FBI agent who cracked the case, through no help or mention of this Jeff. The problem here is, these are biographical depictions, less than a year apart, about the exact same event, and hell, even from the same studio, so, which do we believe or which do we believe more, or, are they both true, though their stories are different?Furthermore, this bothers me because if Stronger is "less true", then Jeff's praise is based on what, a misunderstanding?I don't know, I just feel like many people got affected by what happened in Boston that day, and some are trying to cash in (especially because just like Patriot's Day, it didn't do too well at the Box Office). What I'm trying to say is, if the actual Jeff Bauman didn't feel like a hero, then this film would've never been made, ABOUT HIM, also, it would've highlighted who was in fact instrumental in identifying the bomber(s), but the movie was made, even though Jeff's account of the events may be somewhat compromised. Like I said, I don't know, Stronger just feels a certain way, because of Patriot's Day, and guess, so does Patriot's Day now.Anyway, all of that aside, Stronger wasn't quite as strong as Patriot's Day I have to say, but still, an okay watch. 6/10.
dal_asher I liked this movie a lot. Jake Gyllenhaal gives an inspired performance as Jeff Bauman, the young man who was waiting at the finish line when the Boston Marathon bombs went off. Jake gives a very emotional but not over the top performance as was needed in this film. He shows that Jeff Bauman was experiencing PTSD but without any counseling (or none portrayed in the film) pushed through it. From my point of view, the patriotism shown was horrific for him as he did not view himself as a patriot or hero. He was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. He did not "beat terrorists" but rather he'd seen one of the bombers and was able to assist in the effort to capture one of them. My husband and I served the U.S. government overseas and at home for more that 40 years and we don't believe we have to prove our patriotism to anyone. Our service proves it. So I just tune out the overdone patriotism part of this movie and figure it's Hollywood. The story itself is an inspiration to many by the mere fact that he overcame his adversity. This movie is worth a watch and I recommend it for viewers that simply enjoy a story well told and well acted.
