Bergorks If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.
beaubaez I'm wasn't expecting much when my wife force me to watch this movie about some people going on an ancient pilgrim's path, but I was captivated by the movie. The plot, the cinematography, the acting--all first rate. The reason that this move is interesting is because it includes themes anyone can relate to: love, death, loss, and companionship. Also, learning so much about the history of this ancient path, with its various traditions. After watching the movie I have a strong desire to do the "camino."
jiosongjs 9.2/10I feel like this movie was the best movie in those movies that I watched these days. I watched it in Film class for mid-final but I really think that it was better than the movies that I've chose to watch myself. This movie was very touching and very well plotted. I gave 9.2 because I think that this movie was well made. The story was really alike my relationship with my dad. My dad always told me that what I wanted to do was stupid. He wanted me to go do what he wanted me to do. He didn't really care about what I wanted to do. However in the movie, even though Tom didn't care about Daniel's dream, he decides to finish Daniel's dream. I guess the story was more touching because I could agree with the situation Daniel was at.The acting was very nice. The facial expressions of the actors were believable and it showed me what the actor was feeling. I think as a actor view, this movie has great actors. In story view, I feel like the story is amazing. It has really sad story but the ending was so nice. It was easy to agree and feel what the actors were feeling. Because of my problem with my dad, the connection made me concentrate on the movie really well.I have no doubt that this is one of my best movies that I love. Mostly because while I was watching, I wished my dad was like the dad in the movie. This touched my heart so much that I thought, even dad won't like it, do what you like. Nothing is impossible, I feel like this was the lesson this movie gave me. I really loved this movie and if I can, I would love to watch it with my dad.
Jonathan Tranter The plot is interesting, and the setting is intriguing. However, the actors really bring this movie down, as do the cheesy scenes of characters walking around in Southern Europe. I was so bored by the end of this. All the characters are annoying, and it all feels very staged and trite. It will only appeal to people who don't have any interest in movies, because anyone else would recognise this as truly awful. It's actually put me off Martin Sheen as he was so dreadful. There is very little backstory about the son and we hardly see Emilio Estevez. Please do not watch this thinking it's an adventure movie or in the style of "Into the wild". It's about 4 reasonably wealthy middle aged people who go on a walk for different reasons.
SnoopyStyle Thomas Avery (Martin Sheen) is an American ophthalmologist. His nomadic only-child Daniel (Emilio Estevez) is killed walking the Catholic pilgrimage trail Camino de Santiago (the Way of St. James) to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain. In flashbacks, Thomas refuses to go with Daniel and berates him for his roaming nature. Thomas decides to carry Daniel's ashes and finish the trail for both him and himself. He encounters several hikers along the way. There is no high drama here. There is a little bit of humor but overwhelmingly, this is a personal journey movie. It is touching and compelling. One call feel Martin Sheen truly invested in this movie. Emilio is the director. He puts in a few too many montages. Deborah Kara Unger is terrific. It's a nice movie overall.
