me-57560 This is a type of show that you could say is rare now a days. It is quite family friendly and fun. But it definitely has a heart. You feel how the characters grow up and makes you miss your old friends too. I would've liked if it continued for another season but how they did they ending is quite outstanding. Everything just gets real. The acting is OK but the storytelling in terms of the writing is well done. Great show! They should make more shows like this. Family friendly and light hearted. A must watch!
ewpretty I've never written a TV show review, but I know what I like and I like this show. I watched this series with my 11 and 9 year old sons and we love it. As a dad I'm disappointed at the predictability, the lack of creativity and how parents and children are presented in most family programming. Gortimer is well written , fun, the child actors are very real, likable and not obnoxious entitled brats, and the parents are not characterized as clueless idiots like almost every live action show from the Disney machine. If you and you and your family have been looking for quality family programming without being preachy or filled with Hollywood clichés then this is your show. We've watched the whole season and check Amazon often for new episodes.
Drive_Home After 14 episodes of the first season, I am now comfortable in saying: Gortimer is smartly written, well acted, and solidly produced. It transports one to a simpler, happier time, while still meaningful and relevant to the younger viewers. Each episode is a stand-alone tale that evokes the mysteries of childhood and--in what seems a lost art--manages to teach poignant and valuable lessons. Some episodes are more powerful and magical than others, but each one is satisfying in its own right. This show is one-part "Eerie, Indiana," one-part Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and one-part its own wondrous thing.
