sandhan-52072 Stuck with it to the end in the hopes it would get better but in vain...So there's a bunch of people on a boat in the middle of the ocean. Then they're in the water drowning.. then they get to Australia and the plot weaves around that. Except there are some glaring gaps which would help to make this story more credible. How did they get rescued for instance? Then one could maybe get past the average acting, the long meaningful looks and the holes in the plot...I'm sure that the concept is very pertinent for those of us in Australia but for me it fell way short.
gkdyer-62921 I found this series to be very thought provoking, and found myself often wondering what I would have done in the same situation. I found the acting to be realistic and believable, and the script was true to the local lingo. The subject matter remains topical and series such as this one help to put a human face to people often referred to as "boat people".
sj1-750-343344 Loved it! Not sure how some other reviewers can say it was over acted - for an emotive topic it can't be acted in a bland way. The script rips along as we see all of the characters come to terms with a humanitarian disaster the subsequent impact it has on all their lives and the way they each choose to deal with the ramifications.
grovervj I have now watched all 3 episodes and it is getting worse every week. I think the acting is mediocre, special effects and music over the top.Of course the Australian critics will rave about it as that is what they do, but it does not measure up to some of the BBC thrillers. They have good story telling, drama without excess and believable actors. As usual Screen Australia have supported a product that should have been rejected, good story, terrible production. Music, acting , lighting, special effects all badly executed.
