Daphne and Bay are so enthralled with China that they stay longer than anticipated, but after 10 months, they get an emergency call and drop everything to return home. Once there, Daphne tries to integrate herself back into campus life but finds that things have changed without her. Bay is mixed up about her feelings towards Emmett who is struggling with his own problems. Meanwhile, Kathryn and John quarrel over her job and Regina feels guilty about a secret tryst.

After a photo of Daphne and Mingo dressed up as their favorite singers at a college costume party goes viral, the pair find themselves caught up in a controversy that escalates into a discussion of race relations and free speech. Bay seeks a job at the tattoo parlor in town. Kathryn and John court a new shortstop for the UMKC baseball team, while Regina and Luca work on a class project together.

Daphne and Sharee are horrified to stumble upon a racist display at the Black Student Union on campus. When the perpetrators are given minimal punishment, Iris starts a hunger strike in protest. Daphne receives an anonymous threat and Sharee grows frustrated with how the school is handling the situation. Emmett invites Bay to help him with an art project, causing friction with Travis who’s already upset that John seems ready to replace him on the baseball team.

EP5 Occupy Truth Feb 28, 2017

With tensions running at an all-time high, the Black Student Union takes a stand against the university administration until their demands are heard. Told in three chapters from the varying perspectives of Sharee, Iris and Chris, the students deal with their frustrations in different ways. Iris pledges to continue her hunger strike until the students responsible for a racist display outside the Black Student Union are expelled, but her commitment has consequences on her health. Sharee faces the pain of her own past as she tries to gather signatures and rally more students to get involved. Chris is torn between wanting to dazzle several baseball scouts at an upcoming game and standing with his fellow students to show solidarity.

EP6 Four Ages in Life Mar 07, 2017

Daphne takes a volunteer job at a clinic for extra credit and comes face-to-face with her old mentor, Dr. Jackson. While eager to mend fences with him, she grows alarmed when it becomes obvious he’s having trouble properly treating his patients. Mingo leads the annual “Kangaroo Krawl,” but Daphne sees his foolhardy behavior as a reaction to the regretful costume party incident. Bay finds Noelle is plagiarizing her work and uses the discovery to negotiate her own chair. John and Kathryn make an effort to rekindle their romance. Regina is put in a precarious situation when she decides to expand her business.

Kathryn and Regina do some old-school snooping on Luca after Regina sees a questionable text on his phone.

Daphne competes against Mingo for a six-week paid internship in sports medicine. Bay is celebrated for her tattoo work in a magazine spread, but her struggle to prove herself as an artist to John threatens to destroy their relationship. Toby meets Amelia, a young woman with Down Syndrome who changes his perception about his son’s future. Melody, Emmett and Travis make some major decisions about their lives, and Regina takes a chance on love.

Synopsis

The story of two teenage girls who discover they were accidentally switched as newborns in the hospital. Bay Kennish grew up in a wealthy family with two parents and a brother, while Daphne Vasquez, who lost her hearing at an early age due to a case of meningitis, grew up with a single mother in a working-class neighborhood. Things come to a dramatic head when both families meet and struggle to learn how to live together for the sake of the girls.

anlantruong My favorite characters were John, Katherine and Toby. Daphanie and Bay were too annoying for me to like. And Regina, I felt like they always put her in a terrible position, kind of hard to watch. Daphanie and Bay have like 10 boyfriends in a week or month and they always somehow end up stealing each others boyfriends or people they like.But, for the record I did really enjoy watching the interactions in sign language, made me want to learn it too.

Lily DelBeato I loved this show from the first Season all the way to the last Season it was amazing. It has a good story line and the acting is stellar. The show is about two girls who got switched at birth by accident when they were born at the hospital. 15 years later they find out they were switched and end up meeting for the first time. The girls get to meet their real birth parents and of course crazy things ensue. The only complaint I have about this is how they ended the show, no this is not a spoiler just saying left it kinda on a cliffhanger. Oh well if you are looking for a good show then I suggest giving this gem a try.
madisonlavenderfloyd Though I am a teenager, rarely do I ever watch ABC Family's or "Freeforms" cheesy, teenage romance, drama. Trying to figure out what was so great about Pretty Little Liars or The Secret Life of an American Teenager, I disregarded the show for quite a while. I didn't really find anything wholesome about either show and found them to both be completely annoying. I couldn't even get past the first episode of Pretty Little Liars. I gave The Secret Life of an American Teenager some time but still couldn't find out what was so great about the show. A friend recommended the show to me. But, she also was the main person who pushed me to watch PLL's and TSLOAT, so, of course, I was a little skeptical. I was even more skeptical when I'd found out that the show was on ABC family. I watched the first episode of Switched At Birth and immediately fell in love. Every episode is of course filled with family drama, but they all overcome it in the end. The show proves that two people from completely different backgrounds and families can come together as one. The show is amazingly and beautifully written. One of the stars of the show is deaf, which definitely adds a different twist to the show and it's not just her there are plenty of deaf people who star on the show. The show has taught me much as a person. I've even taken up learning sign language and can confidently say that I know the full alphabet. I've also fallen in love with art, just like Bay loves her art in the show. The show is completely wholesome and has a wonderful message in each episode. I would definitely recommend this show to teenagers who love a little drama but want something different and wholesome.
