d-ranzato Finally a new series I fell in love with from the first episode. And as a Freemason I loved how the lodge and its various members were portrayed. Very funny, but very recognizable. A modern esoteric parable about Man's search for meaning.The series is indeed a bit slow, but I think that is a strength and not a weakness. It gives the series a humanity that is so very rare in these fast-paced times.As a Freemason I can see that the makers are knowledgable of its esoteric and philosophical roots. It is also clear that the makers use the mythical Hero's Journey, so very important in many esoteric paths, to tell Dud's story. The esoteric soul of the series shines through without scaring away any casual viewers.The series can maybe be described as the younger years of the Big Lebowski, but instead of encountering nihilists, he encounters masons and joins them for some quirky adventures.Can't wait for series two!
quarterwavevertical This show is so boring that it makes watching paint dry seem like edge-of-your-seat excitement.Whenever I watch a TV show or movie and the plot is slow-paced, I expect things to develop with time. That could mean character development or the revelation of subtle details that help with the story. "Lodge 49", however, has neither.In addition, there are too many side stories filled with unnecessary details. The plot keeps switching back and forth between them so that one can't really follow what's going on, let alone care about what's happening. Compare that with something like "Breaking Bad" or "Better Call Saul". Those shows have only a few main characters, the side stories are clear and succinct and, eventually, they come together. The writers for those two series made good use of the time on screen; those for "Lodge 49" didn't do that.I switched it off part-way through the second episode. It's another misfire for AMC. Avoid this one.

sith_phillis I was not sure what this show was trying to accomplish. I found myself thinking that this was just some generic show at first. I was wrong. This show is far more than it seems. It seems like a light comedy but eventually secrets and myths unfold. I can not wait to see what happens as we wander the labrynth and see what secrets it holds.
